Looking for the perfect exhaust...
Been researching some cat back systems lately. What i am really looking for is an increase in volume and looks from the exhaust and hopefully there is some performance gain that goes along with that. I don't really want something subtle thats going to sound similar as the stock exhaust. Oh and obviously since i live in Cali it must be CARB approved. Any suggestions and pictures would be great.

Any exhaust will be CARB approved if it is a cat back system because it is all installed after the catalytic converters.
I would seriously consider the Bassani exhaust. Do a search for Bassani in the forums. I posted other info and also have 2 videos that show installation and sound under load. The second video is from a local Z owner that lives in Santa Clara and is part of the car club I am a member of. His car sounded really good echoing off the rocks in Yosemite earlier this year when we went to Hetch Hetchy Resovoir.
The Borla is great and provides a deeper sound than stock but is more mild than other systems out there. I think you will like the Bassani a lot and it produces good gains from what I have heard.

yeah i've looked into the Bassani exhaust a little bit. Anyone have an Injen exhaust set up? is it real loud? I think it is a bit more expensive

Another member of our club has the Injen exhaust. It's on the black 350Z that won first place at the Hooters Event. You should have gone, you could have heard it. I believe the Bassani is a little deeper than the Injen in terms of sound. The Injen is higher pitched. The red 350Z with the Basani exhaust was there too.
Doh!

Not sure if you're looking for dual or single but.....
Bassani is not much of a looker but d@mn it sounds sexy.
HKS looks good but doesn't sound good IMO
I'm in the market as well for an exhaust system.
My choices:
Nismo
Fujitsubo
Bassani

I agree stogey. I've been listening to some clips on youtube of the Apexi N1 and the Invidia N1 systems. I really like the sound and are inexpensive..

just installed the invidia n1 exhaust today and i must say i am extremely pleased..... i did hours upon hours upon hours of watching every clip every made of 350z exhuast and picked the invidia n1.... i like the sound even over the 1500k wallet killer hks titanum overpriced one... but the invidia aint cheap either... i got it for 650 shipped... but remember its not a "catback"(from the cats , back) its a "y back" using the stock y pipe... i love the look too.. heres a clip with the invidia with test pipes... p.s. its one of the loudest exhuasts ive seen for the z.. i love it

I would love to hear some sound clips bones..did you ever consider the Apexi N1? i seem to like it a lot. It's similar to the invidia. I found it for $523. Don't know shipping rates though.

i know i wish i could post a sound clip but i bent my y pipe when i was hammering out the old rusted bolt so the old y pipe didn't connect perfectly and there is a minute leak which might give a bad impression of what it would sound like... plus i have no cats so its a tiny bit raspy but im going to get a xyz resognated y pipe which will be perfect for me.... but yea the apexi n1 exhaust is similair to the invidia n1... i got mine for 630 with shipping ... i just like the invidia better for some reason.. i personally think its much louder and the look of it is better... you can see the chrome pipes coming up from the rear not just the mufflers like on the apexi... and its got a little invidia plate there with the name so i thought it was awesome.... plus the video that i posted is the exact setup i have with the long tube headers so thats what my car sonds like
when i first so that clip i was lke alright invidia n1 on the top of my list ... and i went to look at all the other ones ever made and found nothing louder .. cause thats what i was going for.. some people just like to keep the z sound and not too loud of an exhuast they go with the borla.. but i loved the n1 style with 2 rear mufflers i didn't like just the tips..
heres a couple pics with it installed in my car.. i'll post a video later today but like i said it has a minute leak.. alright peace http://www.cardomain.com/member_pages/show_image.pl?bg=CCCCFF&image=http://memimage.cardomain.com/member_images/10/web/3106000-3106999/3106799_92_full.jpg?313709-241

I'm a fan of dumped systems personally. if there were a bumper for a 350 that was smooth and didn't have places for the exhaust and then you dumped the exhaust before the axle. oh that would be sexy. that's what i have on my z28. it's pure sex going down the road
